About Russet potato carton counts
A 50 lb russet carton is size-graded by count, the number of potatoes that fill the box. A 40-count carton holds forty big bakers; a 100-count holds a hundred small ones. Lower count means a bigger potato, and the low counts carry the premium. Prices here are normalized per hundredweight so the whole ladder compares on one scale.
Divided by its count, each carton price is a cost per potato: the price per potato calculator does it for every rung in the table above, with the average potato weight at each count.
